This is how the story begins.
Very close to the east coast of England, there was a little village. In this little village, there was a little church. The little church had a little school room in the little village.
One day the school room was not big enough for all the school children, so the little village had a bigger school built. The school was still linked to the church. Gradually the little village grew a bit bigger, with more houses and a community centre too. But the school room was still being used in the village. They called it the Church Rooms. This was where Junior Church was born. Some of the school children would meet mid-week after school for some fun and learn about God.
Over the years, Junior Church have seen the number of children rise and fall, and our helpers thought that perhaps the name of the group might be confusing to some children and parents, who might have thought that only those in the Junior years (Years 3 to 6) were allowed to attend. So a couple of years ago, we changed our name to Kids’ Club. There were times when we thought we might not have enough interest when older children move onto secondary school, or our calendar clashed with the many other activities that the village kids were into, or some of our children move away from the village. However, every time we were ready to throw in the towel, the good Lord provided more enthusiastic children. We’ve seen it enough times to believe that God cares about this group and hope He will keep it going despite our human efforts (or lack of! Having said that, we do try to stick to good practice.)
Kids’ Club was open to all primary school children in the village aged 5 to 11 years (there or thereabouts). Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have now ceased to meet. However, some of the sessions we did together are recorded in these pages, and may provide some inspiration for the reader. If you wish to find out more about the school’s collective worship, please contact Beeford Primary School or Rev James.
Thank you for joining us on our journey. God bless you!
